Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka was appointed the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka in November 2005 and also holds portfolios of Minister of Internal Administration and Deputy Minister of Defense. This is the second time to hold the post of Prime Minister, following his First tenure in 2000. On earlier occasions he served as Minister of Disaster Management and Deputy Defense Minister (2005), Minister of Buddha Sasana, Public Security, Law and Order and Deputy Defense Minister (2002), Minister of Plantation Industries and Cultural Affairs (2000), Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs and Plantation Industries (1994). He was Minister of Plantation Industries and Minister of Justice in 1976. Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka was elected a Member of Parliament in March 1960. He was elected again in 1960 July and Continued till 1977. He was the General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party from 1979 till 1983. Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka was a student attached to Lincoln's Inn, London reading for the Barrister's at Law Examination. He completed the Part 1 of the said Examination and was the President of the Ceylon Students' Union in the U.K. in 1957. He was the Convener and the Chairman of the Afro Asian Student' Association in the U.K. in 1958. Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, born on 05th May 1933, is married.
